Where: Salton Sea State Recreation Area, California
When: March 22, 2007
Notes: The dead fish dotting the shore give the Salton Sea a peculiar aroma. Apparently, the culprit is a combination of heat, salt and algae blooms. The sea is in danger of dying, and it's in the news these days because of a new plan to save it.
