It's a 1/8-second exposure, and I prefocused. I tried some longer exposures, up to 1.3 seconds, but they looked too ethereal, mostly just streaks of light. I wanted to show the energy of Manhattan, and a panning photo on Fifth Avenue is a good way to do that, but I wanted the subjects of the photo to look solid.
