As I shot photos of the fence separating the United States from Mexico, a Border Patrol agent drove by on the highway behind me. I waved as he went past. He gave me a long look but didn't feel the need to stop and ask me why I was taking pictures.
At a time when some law enforcement people seem to think anybody with a camera is up to no good, especially in such a potentially sensitive place, that was refreshing.
