Where: bird market on Ile de la Cité, Paris, France

When: Oct. 3, 2010

Most days, this spot next to the Cité Metro station is a flower market. But on Sundays, it's turned over to people who sell birds and bird accessories. And, as you might surmise, rabbits.

Fantastic guidebook: We found this market in "Markets of Paris," by Dixon and Ruthanne Long, which pointed us to a number of places we'd never have found on our own.
