Where: Las Ventas, the bullring in Madrid, Spain
When: Sept. 24, 2006
Camera: Canon PowerShot A620
Update Oct. 18, 2008: This photo got more than 20 visits yesterday, and it looks like everybody came here from a Google or Yahoo search for some variation of "bullfight dance." Is this just an amazing coincidence, or is there some kind of scavenger hunt going on? I'm really curious, and if someone would let me know, either in the comments or via e-mail, I'd appreciate it. In any case, thanks for stopping by.
Notes: Attending this bullfight was one of several experiences from our trip that we consider especially Spanish. (Another was eating squid in its own ink. The squid was great; the ink, not so much.) This event was a novillada, which means younger bulls and less experienced toreros. Still, it was an amazing spectacle.
Viewer alert: I've posted four photos from the bullfight. There's some blood, and at least one photo could be considered violent. If you want to skip the others, go here (more recent posts) or here (older posts).
See more at JPG magazine: I've submitted several Spain photos to JPG magazine. If enough people vote for them, they may be included in the next issue. See them, and vote for them if you like, here.
Recognition: This photo won third place in the March 2007 challenge "A Sports Event" at Jorj.org's PhotoHunt. Thanks to all who voted.
Multiple posts: I brought back more than 800 photos from our three-week trip. I don't want to be posting photos of Spain for the next six months, so I'm putting up several at a time. Today, I've posted five.

It's not really ugly anymore, but ... Dani and I have done a lot of work on our new house in San Diego. It looks pretty good now, but when we bought it, the place wasn't all that attractive, which I prove in my other blog, The Ugly House.
